Every day, children experience abuse that often goes unseen, unheard, and unreported. It is a painful reality we cannot afford to ignore, because awareness can be the first step towards protection.

That is why, during AXA Week for Good 2026, more than 700 AXA Mansard employees took to communities across Lagos, raising awareness on the prevention, identification, and reporting of domestic and sexual violence.

This year’s theme, “Being a Child Shouldn’t Be a Risk,” reflects a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves to grow up in an environment where they feel safe, valued and protected.

For AXA Mansard, protection has always meant more than insurance. It means standing with communities, listening to their realities, and using our voice and our people to make a positive difference where it matters most.

The week concluded with a symbolic awareness walk across participating cities, a visible reminder that ending abuse requires all of us.

MILO Is Rewarding Over Two Million Consumers Through Its Text & Win Promotion /announcements/milo-is-rewarding-over-two-million-consumers-through-its-text-win-promotion/ Fri, 31 Jul 2026 10:55:20 +0000 /?p=381643

For decades, MILO has been more than a household name. Beyond delivering its iconic Malt, Milk and Cocoa Beverage to millions of Nigerian families, the brand has consistently championed initiatives that create meaningful impact. From inspiring an active lifestyle among children through the  MILO Building Champs initiative to nurturing future sports stars through the MILO School Basketball Championship and inspiring environmental stewardship through the MILO ELEVATE Recycling Initiative, MILO has built a legacy of nourishing potential, inspiring champion values, empowering communities, and earning the trust of generations of Nigerian families.

Today, that legacy is taking on a new expression with the launch of the MILO Text & Win Promotion, a nationwide campaign that transforms appreciation into action by rewarding the consumers who have made MILO part of their family traditions over the years.

Running from July to September 2026, the three-month promotion gives more than two million consumers the opportunity to win airtime worth over ₦2.9 billion, cash prizes ranging from ₦250,000 to ₦1 million, and six brand-new vehicles. Five lucky winners will drive home new cars through the bi-weekly draws, while one grand prize winner will receive a brand-new family SUV.

Taking part is designed to be as simple as opening a sachet of MILO. Consumers only need to purchase a participating MILO 20g promotional sachet, uncover the unique nine-digit code inside the pack, and submit it by dialling *8011*4# or scanning the QR code on the back of the sachet. Every valid entry unlocks another opportunity to be rewarded.

The campaign was officially unveiled at NestlĂ© Nigeria’s headquarters in Lagos, bringing together representatives of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), members of the media, distributors, and NestlĂ© executives to mark the beginning of a campaign centred on recognising the people who have stood behind the brand for decades.

For Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, Category Manager for MILO, the promotion is about making appreciation tangible. Rather than simply thanking consumers for choosing MILO over the years, the Text & Win Promotion transforms an everyday purchase into an opportunity to celebrate the people whose continued support has shaped the brand’s journey.

Delivering a campaign of this scale requires more than exciting rewards; it also requires a process that consumers can trust. From the launch, transparency remained central to ensuring that every participant had confidence in the promotion.

Representing the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Dr. (Mrs.) Olubunmi Oti explained that the Commission’s role is to provide oversight, monitor the promotion, and ensure consumers receive their rewards exactly as advertised.

For a campaign designed to reach millions of consumers, widespread availability is essential. According to Commercial Director Boladale Odunlami, strong collaboration across the value chain has brought together distributors, trade partners, and retailers to ensure participating promotional sachets are widely available across the country, giving consumers in communities nationwide an equal opportunity to take part.

As the campaign unfolds over the coming months, millions of consumers will have the opportunity to win exciting rewards, but perhaps the greatest reward is knowing that their loyalty is seen, valued and celebrated.

Why Spider-Man Is The Most Nigerian SuperheroĚý /announcements/why-spider-man-is-the-most-nigerian-superhero/ Tue, 28 Jul 2026 15:01:23 +0000 /?p=381450 Everyone believes Spider-Man is New York’s friendly neighbourhood superhero, but we think he’s Nigeria’s. Sure, he lives in Queens, and swings between skyscrapers, but everything about the way Peter Parker moves through life feels oddly familiar. If you’ve ever wondered which superhero would understand the Nigerian experience, the answer has been right in our face all along.

Here are reasons why we think Spider-Man is the most Nigerian superhero.

1. He’s Broke

With Aunt May gone and no one remembering him, Peter is now poor as hell. Saving New York should have made him rich by now, but his account is in the red. Do you know who can relate to being broke despite working hard? Nigerians.

2. He’s ResourcefulĚý

Like Nigerians, Peter Parker is resourceful, and this is why you would see him making his costumes and webbing himself. It would have been nice to outsource these things, but he does not have that money.Ěý

3. He Deals With Street-Level Crimes

Unlike The Avengers, who primarily face universe-level threats, Spider-Man mostly faces street-level crimes, which Nigeria has plenty of. Just imagine the thought of being able to use your phone while sitting next to a window in a Danfo and not get robbed because all the phone snatchers are afraid of getting their bodies thrown through the wall by Spiderman.Ěý

4. He’s Always Going Through One or TwoĚý

If he’s not finding out that his crush’s dad is The Vulture, he’s getting exposed to the world by a villain, and just when things seem like they can’t get any worse, he accidentally messes up the universe so badly that everyone he loves forgets he exists. Peter Parker can never catch a break, and do you know who else is always going through one or two things? Nigerians.Ěý

5. He Has the Problem-Solving Skills to Thrive in Lagos

Peter Parker knows that moving around any other way, say in a car like Batman or on a bike like Captain America, will leave him stuck in traffic until the crime is over. So, he swings instead. That’s the kind of problem-solving skill Nigeria brings out of you.Ěý

6. He’s Adept at Juggling Different Things at OnceĚý

If he’s not busy fighting crimes or trying to be a present nephew, he’s competing at an Academic Decathlon while crushing on MJ. That ability to juggle different things is a trait many Nigerians know all too well, especially those managing multiple hustles without breaking a sweat.Ěý

BellaNaija’s Next Gen Creator House in Partnership with Google Gemini Equips Young Creators with the Skills and Knowledge to Thrive in the Digital Economy /announcements/bellanaijas-next-gen-creator-house-in-partnership-with-google-gemini-equips-young-creators-with-the-skills-and-knowledge-to-thrive-in-the-digital-economy/ Tue, 28 Jul 2026 11:59:54 +0000 /?p=381420
L-R: Oluwadunsin Sanya – Head of Editorial and Innovation, BellaNaija; Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade – West Africa Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Google; Toke Makinwa – Media personality; Omotunde Ibironke – Head of Partnerships and Growth, BellaNaija

On the 25th of June, 2026, BellaNaija launched the Next Gen Creator House, a high-energy, digital-first, experiential full-day immersive workshop designed for Next GEN Creators, in partnership with Google Gemini.

The event, held in Lagos, Nigeria, brought together some of Nigeria’s most promising young creators aged 18 to 25, industry leaders, and technology experts, and served as a hub for learning, collaboration, and innovation.

From panel sessions to presentations and interactive, practical Google Gemini sessions, young creators learned directly from industry experts such as Toke Makinwa, Tosin Ajibade, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Korty O, Abisola Alawode, Uzoamaka Power, and Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade.

L-R: Colette Otsu – Client Services and Growth Coordinator, BellaNaija; Abisola Alawode – Head of Productions, Big Cabal Media; Enioluwa Adeoluwa – Media Personality and Digital Creator; Korty – Filmmaker

ĚýDuring the fireside chat, Toke Makinwa encouraged creators to be hungry for success and to follow their paths and dreams, regardless of their unconventionality. Enioluwa told creators to treat creation as work, not as a pastime. “You should provide structure around what you do, have your work hours, and a team if you can afford it. Above all, create.” Korty shared the secret to her brilliant interviews: “Be interested in your guests, be curious about them and their journeys – that is the only way you can have great conversations with them”Ěý

For young creators who cannot afford to be entrepreneurs, Abisola said they can be creators within their organisations, in line with their organisations’ policies and visions.

As the world becomes more algorithm-driven, Taiwo encourages young creators to constantly check their analytics, ensuring it guides how they create. Uzoamaka Power encouraged creators to be true to themselves and not simply imitate trends. Tosin Ajibade had one major piece of advice to creators: “Follow the trend but evolve while at it”.

It didn’t end with panel sessions; there were hands-on workshops, creator challenges, and interactive discussions, and participants gained practical knowledge in content creation, storytelling, personal branding, audience growth, and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.Ěý

The practical Google Gemini session taught participants how to make music, create designs, write the perfect prompts and more using Gemini.

As BellaNaija clocks 20, the Head of Editorial and Innovation, Oluwadunsin Sanya, touched on 20 years of positive storytelling, innovation and impact, encouraging creators not to succumb to sensationalism. “The stories you tell today are the stories we’ll become tomorrow,” she said.

As the creator economy continues to reshape how people learn, connect, and build careers, BellaNaija is providing young creators with access to the resources and guidance needed to unlock their full potential and bridge the gap between talent and opportunity.

Reflecting on the vision behind the initiative, BellaNaija’s Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy, and the Programme Director of the Next Gen Creator House, Mary Edoro, said Next Gen Creator House is BellaNaija’s answer to a question we’ve been asking ourselves throughout our 20th anniversary year: what does it mean to genuinely invest in the next generation, not just talk about them? “This wasn’t just a conference about young creators. It is a space we have intentionally built for them, with the tools, mentorship, and access to actually build something real for Africa’s future.”

About BellaNaija

BellaNaija is one of Africa’s leading digital media platforms, dedicated to amplifying the best of Africa and its people through storytelling.

Through news, entertainment, lifestyle, cultural stories, social campaigns and more, BellaNaija continues to inform, inspire, and connect millions of people across the globe.

5 Lagos Ride-Hailing Horror Stories That’ll Make You Want to Try VOLTAAĚý /announcements/ride-hailing-voltaa/ Fri, 24 Jul 2026 15:53:43 +0000 /?p=381260 Sometimes, the most stressful part of your day isn’t the meeting you’re rushing to or the traffic on Ozumba Mbadiwe. It’s the ride that gets you there. We asked Lagosians about their worst ride-hailing experiences they still can’t believe happened.Ěý

“He picked up other people like a taxi” — Choice*, 24

The driver wanted to avoid traffic by taking a route I wasn’t comfortable with, but I insisted we stick to the one shown on the app. That’s when he told me I’d have to pay extra if we stayed on that route.

When I refused, he threatened to pick up other passengers. I thought he was bluffing until he actually stopped and let two strangers into the car while I was still inside. I complained the entire time, but he kept telling me to ‘do my worst’. After reporting the incident, all I got from the app was a discount on my next ride.

“The fees doubled by the time we arrived” — Bolaji*, 31

Last December, I booked a ride from the airport to the Island, and the app quoted about ₦24,000. I usually pay before the trip ends, but this time I forgot. When we got to my destination, the driver asked if I’d seen the updated fare. I checked, and it had jumped to ₦55,000.

I still don’t know how it happened. I definitely didn’t have that kind of money on me, so I had to start calling family members to help me pay. I tried reporting it through the app afterwards, but nothing meaningful came out of it. It honestly felt like a scam.

“He re-routed so the price increased” — James*, 29

I was in a hurry and booked a ride to a route I know like the back of my hand. But instead of following the road I kept pointing out, the driver kept taking random turns. Every time I questioned him, he’d insist he knew a better route.

Then he suddenly drove far off the route and pulled into a filling station. When I asked what was going on, he said his tank was almost empty and this was the closest place to buy fuel. By the time we got back on the road, the fare had jumped from about ₦3,000 to ₦8,000. I refused to pay the extra amount because none of it was my fault, but he started insulting me and causing a scene. I eventually paid because I just wanted to leave. I got to my destination late and frustrated.

“I was abandoned at a deserted area” — Mary*, 24

Earlier this year, I booked a ride without any issues because I was happy with the fare the app showed. We hadn’t even covered a quarter of the journey when the driver suddenly said I’d have to pay more than the quoted price.

I told him I only had enough to pay what the app showed, but he got angry, then pulled over and threatened to drop me by the side of the road if I didn’t agree. Before I could even process what was happening, he drove off and left me in a deserted area. I had to walk a long distance before I finally found a taxi. It was a terrifying experience.

“The driver threw a stone at me” — Ayo*, 19

Everything was fine until we got close to my destination. The driver suddenly said he wouldn’t drive down my street because the road was bad. I told him I shouldn’t have to pay the full fare if he wasn’t completing the trip.

I transferred the money minus ₦1,000 because I’d now have to walk the rest of the way. He completely lost it. As I walked away, he kept insulting me and even threw a stone that hit my back and injured me.

If there’s one thing these stories prove, it’s that Lagos commuters aren’t asking for too much. They just want rides that are comfortable and drama-free. That’s exactly what VOLTAA is building.

VOLTAA is a premium, zero-emission, all-electric mobility ecosystem designed around the everyday frustrations Lagosians know too well. An all-electric fleet means no unexpected fuel stops halfway through your trip, while trained, professional drivers help ensure every ride starts and ends smoothly.

You Might Be Smart, But Are You Money-Smart? Here Are 7 Ways to Find Out /announcements/you-might-be-smart-but-are-you-money-smart/ Thu, 23 Jul 2026 12:18:57 +0000 /?p=381141 When people talk about being smart, they usually mean one of two things. You’re either the street-smart one who knows all the easy ways to navigate chaotic streets and pickpockets, or you’re the book-smart one whom everyone relies on for anything related to academia. But there’s another kind of smart that deserves just as much spotlight: being money smart.

There’s quite a lot of misunderstanding surrounding money-smart folks. A lot of people tend to equate money-smart with knowing complicated investment terms or having plenty of money in the bank, but that’s not it. Being money-smart is actually about making thoughtful decisions with the money you have, building healthy financial habits, and learning how to make your money work for you over time.

If you’ve ever wondered where you fall, these everyday situations might have the answer.

1. You Don’t Feel Like Spending All Your Money the Moment It Lands

Whether it’s your salary, your monthly allowance from a guardian or money from a side quest, money rarely sits in your account for too long. Between the occasional black tax, that laptop you’ve been saying you would get, and one retail therapy after another, there’s always a reason to spend.

If your first instinct is to put a considerable sum aside before spending the rest, you’re already building an impressive habit that can serve you well in the long run. It doesn’t actually matter whether you’re saving ₦10,000 or ₦100,000; what genuinely matters here is getting into the habit of pouring money into yourself first.

2. You Think Before You Bid Goodbye to Your Money

Let’s be honest, we’ve all had that one friend or family member who has told us they’ve found the next big investment opportunity that could change our lives for the better, and they try to convince us to jump on board before it’s too late.

Instead of straight-up jumping into it out of excitement, you take a step back and ask a few important questions. You want to know how it works, what you’re signing up for, and whether it fits your financial end goals. Taking the time to understand what you’re putting your money into is one of the simplest ways to make better financial decisions.

3. You Find It Easier to Save When You Have a Goal

Saving becomes much easier when you’re working towards something that means a lot to you. It could be your rent, a new phone to replace your current dying one, a laptop to advance your career, a trip, or even the emergency fund you’ve been telling yourself you’ll build one day.

This is where Stanbic IBTC’s comes to save the day. Its Target Savings feature lets you save toward specific goals, making it easier to stay consistent and build concrete money habits that can help you save over time.

4. You’ve Started Wondering What Comes After Saving

Most people’s money journey starts with saving, but it’s only human to start asking the important questions after a while. Once you’ve built the discipline to save consistently, you may find yourself wondering how else your money can grow.

To be frank, you don’t have to be an expert to take an interest in investing. Being curious and learning how it works will make it less intimidating for you. Another bonus is that it can help you feel more confident about the choices you make with your money.

5. You Learn Better When You’re Having Fun

Not everyone enjoys reading long articles about money, but the truth is, most people enjoy a challenge, especially when there’s something to gain from it.

That’s what Stanbic IBTC InvestBeta Season 3 is designed to do. As an interactive investment game show, it gives young Nigerians a chance to test their investing knowledge. It allows them to learn new things along the way and stand a chance to win exciting prizes. Instead of making financial education feel intimidating and boring, it turns learning into something fun and rewarding.

If you can’t take our word, maybe you would take the word of Victor Chidubem, one of the winners of InvestBeta Season 2, who described the experience as “fun, educative and insightful.” He also calls InvestBeta an amazing opportunity that participants won’t regret.Ěý

(Victor Chidubem)

6. You’re Always Looking for Better Ways to Handle Your Money

Nobody gets everything right from the start, and becoming money smart isn’t a miracle that happens overnight. It happens when you keep looking for better ways to save, spend and plan, even if the improvements are small.

That mindset is something Odira Osegbo, the first female winner of InvestBeta Season 2, has carried into her own financial journey. Speaking about how she invests, she said, “I am doing the money market fund and the equity fund. Money market because it is safe. So, that is what I mainly use for capital preservation because in money market, your money is preserved.”

(Odira Osegbo)

That’s why Stanbic IBTC is creating opportunities for young Nigerians to build stronger financial habits. Through initiatives like InvestBeta Season 3 and tools like BluNest, the goal is to make learning about money feel digestible and approachable.

7. You’re Ready to Find Out How Money Smart You Really Are

Yes, being street-smart can help you avoid costly mistakes that you’ll regret for the rest of your life, while being book-smart can open various doors for you in life. Being money smart, however, gives you the confidence to make better financial decisions at every stage of your life.

If you’re still wondering whether it’s worth putting your money knowledge to the test, Odira has a simple answer. In her words, you have “nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.” If that sounds like your kind of challenge, Stanbic IBTC InvestBeta Season 3 is definitely a great place to start.

Ready to see how money-smart you really are? Register for Stanbic IBTC InvestBeta Season 3, and then you can take things a step further with the InvestBeta 20% Challenge. Commit 20% of your monthly income to a Stanbic IBTC Money Market Fund through BluNest for six consecutive months, complete weekly tasks, climb the leaderboard and establish a more consistent investing habit along the way.

That consistency comes with great rewards, too. Participants who stay on track can unlock milestone prizes after three months, while the top performers stand a chance to win cash prizes, including the grand prize of ₦150,000.

Ready to get started? Register for InvestBeta season 3, and InvestBeta 20%, , and follow for weekly community tasks.

Then came virtual Top-Ups(VTU) and USSD in the late 2000s. Banks and telecos partnered to top up phones automatically. It was a huge uplift.

But in 2015, fintech and third-party apps burst onto the scene to change airtime recharge forever. These apps powered fast, cashless transactions, offering extra flexibility without requiring a debit card. The best ones are known for great deals, cashbacks, and occasional discounts.

5 Things We Loved About Knorr Jollof Fest Abuja /announcements/5-things-we-loved-about-knorr-jollof-fest-abuja/ Tue, 21 Jul 2026 16:51:45 +0000 /?p=380980 If Lagos set the pace, Abuja proved the Knorr Jollof Fest was no one-city wonder.

On Sunday, July 12, Harrow Park came alive as hundreds of food lovers, music enthusiasts and culture lovers gathered for the second stop of the Knorr Jollof Fest, a multi-city celebration of food, music and culture. With this year’s theme, For The Culture, Knorr once again brought together everything Nigerians love in one place, from unforgettable flavours to music, art and immersive experiences. Hosted by fan favourites, Tobi Bakre and Kaylah Oniwo, the energy barely dropped from start to finish.

Here are five highlights we simply couldn’t ignore.

1. You Could Literally Eat Your Way Around the Festival

Nobody left Knorr Jollof Fest hungry.

One of the biggest crowd magnets was the Jollof sampling stations, where guests enjoyed different variations of Nigeria’s favourite dish completely free. Whether you preferred Smokey Party Jollof, Coconut Jollof, Spicy Jollof or even Jambalaya-inspired flavours, there was something for every palate. All it took was a quick QR code scan before receiving a steaming plate of Jollof goodness.

Safe to say, many people went back for seconds… and thirds.

2. Every Corner Had Something Fun Waiting

Calling it a food festival doesn’t quite do it justice.

There was something to discover around every corner. Guests explored the Knorr Herbs & Spices Garden to learn about the ingredients behind their favourite seasonings, tapped into their creative side at the complimentary Sip & Paint sessions, adorned themselves with intricate henna designs at The Henna station, challenged friends in the gaming zone and stopped by vibrant photo installations to capture memories.

The experiences didn’t stop there. Guests also gathered around the Gist & Jollof Podcast, where Taymesan led lively conversations that added another layer to the day’s celebration. With food and drink vendors serving everything from local favourites to refreshing beverages, every corner of the festival offered something worth exploring.

3. The Masterclasses Put a Fresh Spin on Jollof

Who says Jollof can’t evolve?

Knorr’s culinary collaborators, Chef Ahr, Chef Amaka, Chef Cupid and Chef Dee, took festival-goers on a delicious journey through creative interpretations of Nigeria’s most iconic dish, all powered by the new Knorr Smokey Party Jollof Seasoning.

Chef Dee surprised everyone with his inventive Jollof Sushi, while Chef Ahr drew inspiration from Northern Nigeria with her flavour-packed Jollof Taushe. It wasn’t just cooking—it was proof that Jollof can wear many hats without losing its identity.

4. Knorr Made Sure Nobody Missed a Moment

In 2026, if it isn’t online, did it really happen?

Thankfully, Knorr had that covered. Guests stayed connected throughout the festival with free WiFi, making it easy to livestream performances, upload content, share photos and flood social media with real-time updates from Harrow Park.

Because great memories deserve great internet.

5. The Entertainment Delivered a Proper Abuja Shutdown

As the sun went down, the party turned all the way up.

From DJ Burna’s electric sets to Dope Caesar’s crowd-moving transitions and Do2dtun’s infectious energy on the mic, the entertainment lineup kept the festival buzzing until the very end. The soundtrack of the day was elevated with music from Adekunle Gold’s FUJI album, creating the perfect backdrop for an evening that celebrated culture in every sense.

One of the biggest moments of the day came with the official Abuja unveiling of the new Knorr Smokey Party Jollof Seasoning. Introduced with a confetti-filled stage reveal, the newest addition to the Knorr family promises to bring that unmistakable smoky party Jollof flavour into kitchens across Nigeria.

With Lagos and Abuja now successfully checked off, all eyes are on Port Harcourt for the final stop of the Knorr Jollof Fest trilogy. If the first two editions are anything to go by, the grand finale promises even more flavour, fun and unforgettable moments.

Missed the Abuja edition? Catch all the highlights in Knorr’s official recap and see what everyone has been talking about. And if you’re planning to be part of the final stop, head over to social media for updates on the next stop.Ěý
